Christmas means turkey dinner, Brussel sprouts, games and falling asleep in a chair by the fire. But it also means the Queen’s speech and the battle of the ratings between ITV and BBC for the best Christmas storyline.

Every year Eastenders, Coronation Street and the current holders of the Soap of the Year award, Emmerdale all go head to head to come up with the best, the most shocking and even the most upsetting storyline that we will all be talking about for weeks to come.

Thanks to Social Media we are already getting teasers of potential stories. Eastenders is apparently going to have an ‘explosive’ episode which is meant to see the Brannings leaving the square for good.

Corrie have done a great job of keeping their storyline under wraps, although rumour has it, that it will be related to Fizz, Tyrone and baby Hope.

Emmerdale has seen much of the recent stories relate to the Dingles, and it is likely that the episodes around Christmas will also stick to the same subject.

Whatever the real stories are when they are finally revealed on Christmas Day, one thing is for sure, there will be plenty of yelling at the TV and possibly even some tears!
